The starting point for every new project commissioned to M.A.T. is the vehicle concept.
This is where M.A.T., together with the client, defines the key elements and performances of the new car, and the technologies required to develop and assemble the prototype. This is where each project deadline and overall costs are agreed with the customer.
From a technical standpoint, the definition of a vehicle concept involves creating a package and safety concept, developing a body-in-white structure concept and aerodynamics values and selecting the most appropriate powertrain solution.
Style is a key element in this stage, and where input from the customer is most actively sought after.
Whether a race car or a road legal sedan, a single seater coupè or a such unique concept that a definition for that body has not been invented yet, MAT is able to identify the most suitable designer to give shape to the client’s ideas, who will be part of the team all through the handover of the final product.
After the theory comes the practice, and M.A.T. engineers turn concepts into reality.
CAD systems are used to create detailed designs that allow the project to get the optimal solution for the client from both the technical and economic perspectives.
During the calculation and simulation phase, M.A.T. engineers refine the vehicle characteristics and finalize technical solutions before the real test phase begins. A unique feature of M.A.T. approach to vehicle engineering is that the same attention that is normally given to the mechanical developments is devoted here to bodywork design, resulting in a supreme synthesis of aerodynamic perfection and seamless style.
In such process, absolutely nothing can be left to chance. Every component, the engine and the complete vehicle, are tested and optimized under realistic conditions. Whether on the test bench of a Polytechnic or on a race track, the process will not be completed until the optimum result has been achieved.
M.A.T. is an internationally licensed small series Vehicle Manufacturer.
The M.A.T. workshop, located in the surroundings of the automotive district of Torino, is equipped with all the facilities and tools that a skilled craftsmen workforce need to assemble a most valuable one-off vehicle, often endowed with extreme performances.
In the process, many mechanical components are actually manufactured in-house. In M.A.T., design engineers work in the same location where the assembly process take place, ensuring a perfectly integrated approach to any technical solution.
Finishing is normally performed in-house, and painting is done at third party suppliers selected among the most experienced and skilled body shops in the area.
